Leukemia is a type of cancer of the blood, which starts in the bone marrow, the soft tissue found in the center of the bones, where blood cells are formed. The variety of leukemia is determined by the type of cell affected and the rate at which the cells grow. To be precise, leukemia can be acute or chronic.

There are certain aspects of surgical treatment of rectal cancer that differentiate it from surgery on other areas of the large intestine, such as the involvement of the pelvis and proximity to the anus. Rectal surgery may result in difficulty with bowel movements and problems with urinary and sexual function.

Since MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid – Hospiten opened its doors in the year 2000, the Dietetics, Nutrition and Research Unit (DNRU) has been working. The aim is to bring together all the specialists who work on the disease under one roof, i.e. medical oncology, radiation therapy, general surgery, plastic surgery, gynecology, breast radiology, rheumatology and psychology. In this way, the breast cancer patient will have easy, direct access to whichever specialist she may need.
