Sometimes, particularly in hematological tumors, a bone marrow puncture will be performed for diagnosis or study of the course of your disease. It is also done in bone marrow transplant. (See puncture).
In the bone marrow biopsy, a small piece of bone is obtained with the intact marrow. This is done with local anesthesia and does no leave sequelae or subsequent pain.
