Definition of medical terms used on the web.

Gingivitis

Inflammation of the gums causing redness, pain, hypersensitivity, and even bleeding. It may occur following different chemotherapy treatments and required mouth rinses with a mixture of salt and bicarbonate, excluding abrasive products that may further damage the mucosal membranes as well as vigorous brushing.

In hematological patients, the gingivitis and bleeding may be a sign of a decreased platelet count.
