Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy

This is an advanced form of IMRT in which the accelerator delivers the radiation dose continuously whilst rotating around the patient. The shape of the field and the rate at which the radiation is delivered varies continuously.

Advantages: In comparison with IMRT, this system produces improved distribution of the dose and requires less time for the treatment (between 1 and 3 minutes of radiation).
