The Anesthesiology, Recovery and Pain Management Service at MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid – Hospiten is formed by a team of professionals with extensive experience in oncological patient care.

With over 8,000 procedures carried out a year, the Anesthesiology Service seeks excellence in routine clinical practice as well as in research and training to improve the quality of life of our patients.

Surgical activity

Our activity covers all surgical specialties and is marked by many years of experiences in highly complex procedures, highlighting among others;

Cytoreduction with hyperthermic intraoperative chemotherapy
Malignant peritoneal tumors
Video thoracoscopy thoracic surgery. Pleura and mediastinal surgery
Major laparoscopic urologic surgery. Prostatic cryotherapy
Neurosurgery
ENT, head and neck tumors
Surgical cytoreduction in ovarian cancer. Gynecologic oncology
Hepato-bilio-pancreatic surgery. Colon surgery
Post-trauma tumors. Sarcoma. Spinal cord surgery
Breast Tumor Unit. Breast reconstruction

Every patient undergoes an exhaustive preoperative study involving different specialties so that when the time for surgery comes conditions are optimal.

Pain Management Unit

In addition to surgery, the Pain Management Unit, for both acute and chronic postoperative pain and that of the cancer patient, offers the latest innovations in medical treatment and interventional techniques to give the patient the best possible quality of life.

Sedation

In addition to surgery and pain management, the anesthesiology service is responsible for the sedation needed for certain tests - gastrointestinal endoscopy, radiology, PET, radiotherapy, hematology, etc.

The individual needs of each patient are attended in a personalized manner to achieve maximum comfort and the best possible quality of life for the patient.
